The Iyengar method works on the principle of meditation in action. Practitioners concentrate closely on the movements in the yoga postures (asanas), bringing the body into balance by increasing mobility, stability, strength and alignment. At the same time, this intense concentration draws the attention inward, quieting and integrating mind and body.

Restorative Practice - Practice passive supportive poses and pranayama (breathing). sequence repeats weekly allowing individuals to learn how postures apply uniquely to them, which props they need, ultimately teaching students to be self sufficient in their practice. Regular attendance required, no drop in's

Fees: non-refundable, non-transferable for any reason, on rare occasions there may be exceptions.

Limited to those trying class first time, currently registered OR Iyengar students from other cities.

How registering works:
Sign up for a day(s) of the week, if you know you will be away take an extra class in another time slot that week or when you return before the end of the season. Fees paid directly to Nicola, Yoga by the Sea packages and passes are not applicable for registered class.

Missed Class Protocol:
If registered, you may make up or attend additional classes no notice necessary – drop in fee applies. Drop in limited to those trying class first time, currently registered and Iyengar students from other cities.

Etiquette:
  • Class begins on time.
  • Arrive in advance, warm up, settle and collect gear, be ready at start time.
  • Wear t-shirt, shorts or tights to see knees and ankles, bare feet, empty stomach.
  • “Fragrance free” OR you may be asked to leave.
