Yoga Therapy Philosophy and Practices for Post Traumatic Growth
In this workshop, we will discuss and experience how the concept of Post Traumatic Growth
(PTG) is supported by Yoga Therapy Philosophy and Practices. We will examine what the Yoga
Sutra-s have to say about identifying the symptoms of trauma/duḥkha (Ch I,31) and moving
towards post-traumatic growth and transformation (Ch I 32-39 and Ch II, 46-48). We will also
experience and discuss how Yoga Therapy practices can promote a regulated and flexible
Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) (ananta) by allowing us to gradually let go of past suffering
(duḥkha) held in the body-mind continuum. We will engage in both grounding and stimulating
movement, breath, meditation and sound practices within a container of choice, safety, and
embodied awareness (interoception). To experience a related offering at IAYT’s Global Yoga
Therapy Day (2023), visit Embodied Yoga Philosophy for Building Trauma Resilience through

Alliance and International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) through their CE petition
process.
